Rates of plasma sodium concentration increase before and after DDAVP administration output in 20 patients admitted in the ICU for severely symptomatic or profound hyponatremia. The slope of PNa was significantly reduced from 0.5860.12 to 0.1560.043 mmol/L/h (p, 0.001) after DDAVP administration. DDAVP administration thus likely avoided PNa overcorrection.
