We decided to include all patients presenting even with early diagnosis of DVT (within 48 h) as none of them had known risk factors (past medical history of DVT, or family history, cancer, obesity), nor any symptoms identified before admission. They were severely injured patients and had either extended vehicle extrication time or prolonged surgery with potentially compression mechanism
