The rates of reintubation within the first 7 days after polysomnography was 14% (6/42) in patients with normal sleep vs. 10% (1/10) in those with atypical sleep (p = 0.75 using log-rank test), and was 5% (1/19) in patients with REM sleep vs. 18% (6/33) in those with no REM sleep (p = 0.19 using log-rank test)
