  1. Values are median [interquartile range]. Numbers in parentheses denote percentages
  2. AKI, acute kidney injury; MV, mechanical ventilation; PICU, pediatric intensive care unit; PRISM III, pediatric risk of mortality III; pSOFA, pediatric sequential organ failure assessment; uCr, urinary creatinine; uCysC, urinary cystatin C
  3. AKI was defined by Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcome (KDIGO) criteria. Subclinical AKI was defined by uCysC level ≥ 1.26 mg/g uCr in critically ill children who did not meet the KDIGO criteria of AKI. In critically ill children who fulfilled the KDIGO criteria of AKI, AKI substage A was defined by uCysC level < 1.26 mg/g uCr, and AKI substage B was defined by uCysC level ≥ 1.26 mg/g uCr
  4. aP < 0.05, vs. non-AKI
  5. bP < 0.05, vs. subclinical AKI
  6. cP < 0.05, vs. AKI substage A
