  1. Groups were categorised by means of potassium concentrations. Results are expressed as median with interquartile range or as absolute numbers with percentages. Missing values/patients are < 2% and considered as not relevant or indicated. Glucose values are available in n = 43,694 patients; glucose variability was determined in n = 33,031 patients. pH values are available in n = 30,558 patients. All presented parameters show significant differences in distribution over the categories with p < 0.001 tested by Kruskal–Wallis test
