COVID-19-related AHRF was defined as acute dyspnea (with a respiratory rate > 25 breaths/min and/or active contraction of accessory respiratory muscles), with escalating oxygen therapy ≥ 6 L/min with a non-rebreather facemask to maintain SpO2 > 90%, and new pulmonary infiltrates on chest X-rays [5] in a patient diagnosed with COVID-19.
